The Real Beauty of an Easy-to-Clean Kitchen

Situation:

The clients, a husband and wife, are both medical professionals. In their new home, they wanted countertops that were hygienic and easier to keep clean than the tile and granite surfaces in their past homes. They also wanted a surface that would add beauty throughout their kitchen.

Client Objectives: Color Consistency

Given the vast surface area to be covered in a new kitchen design, color consistency was very important to the installation. The surfaces included:

• Two large countertops
• A bar top
• Island with stovetop
• Extended wall backsplashes above countertops
• Kitchen windowsills
• Switchplates & outlet covers

The Staron® Solution:

Staron® Solid Surfaces are available in more than 60 colors and are manufactured to quality standards that ensure color consistency. The client chose “Aspen Amber,” a medium-sized particulate in a light-colored base. Despite the large number of Staron® sheets used, there is no discernable color variation.

Cleanliness

Cleanliness was also important to the clients. Their experience with granite and tile countertops made them realize how difficult it was to keep these surfaces clean, especially at the seams. They were also concerned about staining and spotting.

The Staron® Solution:

Because Staron® Solid Surfaces are nonporous, there’s nowhere for dirt and germs to accumulate. And because Staron® has a smooth, even appearance, it wipes completely clean. While comparing possible surfaces, the client performed her own stain test by leaving red wine on a granite and Staron® surface. When the granite (which is porous) stained and Staron® did not, she decided on Staron®.

Result:

After moving into their new home, the clients are even more enthusiastic about how Staron® looks in their kitchen and how practical it’s proven to be. “We love it! It’s so easy to clean, and so far, it’s proven to be indestructible.”
